QUEEN OF LUXOR

The sphinx avenue you see in front of Luxor temple is part of a longer avenue which connecting Luxor temple to karnak Temple approx. 3 km. long with 750 sphinxes on each side. this avenue was completely  covered with mud and debris and later on people built lots of blocks of building on top , recently by the help of The UNESCO started the project of rediscovering & restoring the sphinx avenue , so in years to come people can walk all the way from karnak to luxor through the sphinx avenue 
in ancient times the avenue was mainly used during celebrations and festivals during which the priests carry the boats of the gads on their shoulders in a parade preceded by lots of musicians , singers & acrobat players
