Tomb of Userhat
Userhet bore the title ‘First Prophet of the Royal Ka of Tuthmose I’ during the reign of Seti I.
The tomb has richly detailed scenes with well preserved colors.
A courtyard containing a stela on the left-hand side leads into a transverse hall. To the left of the entrance there are funerary scenes which show Userhet being led by Anubis to the underworld and a judgement scene in which his heart is weighed against a feather. The deceased is shown kneeling before Osiris and Hathor (as the ‘Goddess of the West’) and kneeling before the ‘Souls of Pe and Nekhen’. The funeral procession depicts the rites performed before mummies and a pyramid tomb. The bottom register is damaged.
The short wall on the left depicts some named ancestors of the deceased (including a vizier) praising the god Montu and below Userhet and his wife are fishing. The northern wall opposite the entrance, on the left, depicts scenes from a procession during the Festival of Tuthmose I, including men bringing gifts or supplies and Userhet adoring the royal barque. At the bottom the deceased receives his burial goods which includes masks.
On the right-hand side of the entrance, on the northern wall, Userhet with two women and a son make offerings to Osiris, Tuthmose I and Ahmose-Nefertari while a group of mourning women and priests make libations and offerings to the deceased and his wife.
The short eastern wall on the right shows Userhet with his wife Hatshepsut (also called Shepset) and his mother Tawosret in a beautiful scene depicting the goddess of the sycamore tree (Hathor or Mut). The Abydos Pilgrimage is portrayed below.
The wall to the right-hand side of the entrance, Userhet kneels before the gods – Thoth presents him to Osiris and Anubis and then he appears before an offering table.
